Megenity had administratively appealed his dismissal for academic reasons from the University of Louisville School of Law. When his appeal was denied, Megenity filed this 42 U.S.C. § 1983 action claiming he had been denied substantive and procedural due process. Defendants' motion for summary judgment that followed was predicated on a theory of qualified immunity.
